EDP Health, Safety and Environment, the specialist Health, Safety and Environment Consultancy, operating from strategic locations throughout the UK, EMEA and South East Asia announces that David Skews (CEO, EDP) has been appointed to represent the IIRSM in Asia Pacific. The appointment follows extensive work that both Mr Skews and the IIRSM have put into forming links and relationships with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Congress on Occupational Health (ICOH).

The IIRSM Board of Directors recognise that as an internationally based institute representing occupational health and safety practitioner’s worldwide, that they should seek to actively support and supplement the work of both the ILO and ICOH.

David Skews is a Specialist Member of IIRSM who also acts as an Ambassador for IIRSM in the Asia Pacific Region. His role is to represent IIRSM in the Region and where possible to develop relationships to promote the work of IIRSM and help deliver IIRSM’s commitment to the improvement and development of occupational safety and health for all, but with a particular focus on young people and child labour.

David said “This is both an honour and a pleasure for me to not only represent the IIRSM, but to also to give my full support to the respected work that the ILO and ICOH carry out internationally. I have direct experience in working alongside such credible organisations and spend a lot of time speaking at key events in Asia Pacific on subjects such as child labour and exploitation.
He went on to say:

“We cannot emphasis enough the importance of protecting young people and children in the workplace and I will make it a personal priority to ensure my representation of the IIRSM in those affected regions, is carried out with the utmost diligence. I look forward to reporting back on international initiatives to bring about a profound change in working conditions, particularly for young people and children, worldwide.”
